I have used Poser for a very long time , and unfortunately the company who supplied models for that software (DAZ ) has decided to only make models that are in a format that only DAZ Studio can read/be used in . It all started with the Genesis models . They have also made things very easy when it comes to rendering by adding the IRAY render engine .Pretty much like those fool proof cameras that came out long ago which did everything for you and you couldn't go wrong when taking a photo .Before that the only way to get professional looking photos was to adjust aperture ,shutter speed and compensate for the lighting conditions ,which was all based on ones personal knowledge and experiance . In a way the decision by DAZ to tailor its models to its own software has in effect once again created a senario similar to the fool proof camera of not so long ago .Gone is the need to understand what is going on behind the scenes that make a great image .The knowledge of lighting and its effects on a scene ,POV, scene composition , the positioning of cameras in the scene etc are all things which require knowledge to get it right . So it is unfortunate that I like so many others will have no choice soon but to join the DAZ Studio brigade. I guess that's fine if people like seeing similar images with little if not no variation in look/appearance, and as more and more people join this mighty juggernaut the images produced by the greater majority of people using the DAZ software will become very boring and flat .That is for those who just throw a few things together, add a texture and press render .Fortunately there are those who know and understand lighting ,scene composition, camera positioning, and POV,and it is these people who will continue to make art interesting by making the necessary adjustments to keep it real . Even in DAZ Studio.
